History

In 2008, Jamie Cambareri came to MasterSound studio to record vocals for Country\Christian recording artist Chet Foster, after which, impressed by her vocal range and expression, Masters asked Cambareri to do further studio work, and the two soon formed an acoustic duo with Masters on guitar, piano and harmonies and Cambareri on vocals and tin whistle. Wanting to expand their sound, Masters invited violinist Elisa Bate and Suzanne Hock (piano and vocals) to join. Erin Prevo later replaced Hock and the original quartet was now set, sometimes playing with the addition of longtime Atlanta studio musicians, and friends of Masters, Don Klayman and Martin Perry.

The group’s first recording was a self-titled acoustic treatment of five cover songs, highlighting the vocal harmonies and Irish-influenced pop sound. It was, however, the bands second album, Eternity Marches On, where the band found their own sound through their original music, blending pop, rock, celtic and christian genres. During its recording, which included the six core members, violinist Elena Martin, guitarist Ben Perkins and vocalist Dusti Jensen were added for many of the songs. The album was produced by Masters and mixed with Atlanta’s Russ Fowler (John Mayer, Stone Temple Pilots, Third Day) and was mastered by Master’s long-time friend Rodney Mills. Five of the six main members can be seen on the only video released from the album, Timing Falls, written by Masters and Bate in ten minutes while sitting on the hood of a car in the recording studio parking lot.

The third album, Lights of Eve, returned Masters, Klayman, Martin and Jensen, adding guitarist Daniel Mascali, vocalists Nicha Hilliard (Arrested Development) and Nate Smith, cellist Justin Mackey, and multi-instrumentalist Joe Richardson. Additional guest vocalists include London’s Stephen Simms and Nashville’s Kenzie Moore. All songs were penned by Masters except one song by Mac Powell of Third Day, and the traditional Irish selections. The album was to be mixed by Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac, Imagine Dragons) who contributed to One Umbrella, but eventually was mixed by Masters and NYC’s Brent Kolatalo (Lady Gaga, John Legend, Kayne West), and again mastered by Rodney Mills. Lights of Eve has four video releases: Toss the Feathers (filmed live in Atlanta), Oceania (filmed in the South Pacific), One Umbrella (filmed in the studio in North Carolina) and the circus story, Laugh Clown, Laugh (filmed in Washington DC and Raleigh, NC).
